Robot vacuum cleaners experts Roborock recently announced new premium series S8 with three models to choose from:
Roborock S8, Roborock S8+ and Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. Company states that robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 is a big upgrade over older its version Roborock S7.

The newest robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 now is equipped with new Reactive 3D instead of older Reactive AI.
Roborock S8 is going to have a camera along with two 3D lasers to help avoid smaller objects laying on the ground, meaning that the robot instead of pushing the items and potentially getting stuck is now going to get around them.
Another interesting thing about Roborock S8 is that it has an installed flashlight. With this feature, the robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 can easily avoid any obstacles on its way during cleaning at night or in dark places.
Having a camera is not new technology for Roborock robot vacuums as it was included in older models like Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra but Roborock S7 didn’t have one and it’s definitely an upgrade.

Cleaning performance is where the biggest changes happened. Roborock S8 is now equipped with new DuoRoller brush module and 6000 Pa suction power.
In theory, it should be a lot better in cleaning carpets. Robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 now having two brushes, one to lift off the dirt and another to get it out of the carpet.
Paired with 6000 Pa suction power, which is more than twice more than it is on Roborock S7 should going to clean the carpet much more efficiently.
On the other hand, in terms of mopping performance, newer model didn’t have any drastic changes. Robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 is going to be equipped with VibraRise 2.0 but it’s not much of an upgrade over VibraRise which Roborock S7 was equipped with.
Because of VibraRise 2.0 feature robot vacuum cleaner, Roborock S8 has improved mopping vibrations. And by this, Roborock S8 has wider moping module than Roborock S7.

Design-wise there will be no big changes between robot vacuum cleaners Roborock S7 and Roborock S8.
Both models are same in size (353*350*96.5mm), both offered in black or white color. The changes made will be only subtle and at first glance it will be hard to tell them apart.

The newest robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 now can detect things laying on the floor. It’s a nice feature to have since it will save you some time from preparing the floor every time before the robot starts cleaning.
Also Roborock S8 is now going to perform a lot better in cleaning carpets. Considering these new features, the new Roborock S8 is going to be big improvement over older S7 and it is worth considering buying one.
Another huge improvement of the Roborock S8 is its suction power. Robot vacuum cleaner Roborock S8 has a suction power of 6000 Pa. While the older version’s Roborock S7 suction power is 2500 Pa. So, it is clearly seen that Roborock S8 has enormous cleaning capabilities because of its suction power.
On the other hand, if you are on a little bit tighter budget, buying older Roborock S7 might be better option. It has very similar moping performance to newer Roborock S8 and if you do not mind preparing the floor before the robot starts cleaning you could save reasonable amount of money. With the new release of Roborock S8 it will be possible to catch some great deals on the older models.
